North Tyneside completes 16 fully electric council homes

North Tyneside Council has completed 16 fully electric council homes on two previously derelict sites in Howdon and Wallsend.
Eight houses at Rosehill View replace the former Rosehill Social Club. Eight flats across two buildings occupy the former Parkside House office site on Elton Street East. All 16 homes will be let at social rents.
Every property has an air-source heat pump for central heating and an electric vehicle charging point. Rosehill View provides two- and three-bedroom terraced houses; Parkside includes one- and two-bedroom flats, with accessible ground-floor homes.
The North East Mayor's Brownfield Housing Fund provided more than £390,000 to help unlock the two sites. Parkside also received support through Homes England's Affordable Homes Programme 2021 to 2026.
The council's 22nd October announcement confirms completion and installed equipment. It does not report measured household energy use or carbon savings. The schemes bring affordable housing and electric heating together while reusing developed land.
