Elmbridge Borough Council has reported practical energy and sustainability improvements delivered through its Community Climate Action Fund.

The programme offered grants of up to £5,000 to local organisations. The council's 22nd October update describes projects already supported, rather than a newly opened funding round.

At the Vera Fletcher Hall, 17 solar panels and battery storage are projected to supply around 80% of annual electricity demand. Cleves School upgraded lighting, while All Saints Church in Weston Green installed 74 LED bulbs. Northwest Surrey Synagogue added insulation and infrared heating.

Other awards supported more efficient heating at Cranmere Primary School, rainwater harvesting, food-rescue equipment and biodiversity projects.

For community-building managers, the examples show how modest grants can support targeted upgrades across energy, water and waste. Projected generation and carbon savings remain estimates, rather than verified annual operating results.
