Welsh Government has listed 24 maximum capital grant awards totalling £8,262,722.90 for 2026–27 through Ynni Cymru. The beneficiaries include community energy organisations, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Coleg Cambria and Velindre University NHS Trust.

Current status

The awards page was updated on 19th October 2026, following ministerial approval for the 2026 Ynni Cymru Capital Grant on 24th September. It records maximum grant values rather than final payments, and Welsh Government says the amounts may change while formal grant award letters are agreed.

The largest listed awards include £997,566 for Renewable Power Pembrokeshire, £941,280 for Llanidloes District Energy Local Club and £881,654 for Ynni Bro Rhian Cyfyngedig. Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is listed for £695,588, Coleg Cambria for £334,205 and Velindre University NHS Trust for £168,560.

Why this matters

Ynni Cymru supports community energy and smart local energy systems that combine local generation, storage, demand management and network infrastructure. The programme is designed to expand locally owned renewable energy, accelerate delivery and retain more of the benefits within Welsh communities.

For public bodies and local delivery partners, the award list shows how the funding reaches a mixed portfolio of councils, healthcare, education, community organisations and smaller enterprises. Project-specific technologies and outputs are not detailed on the awards page, so delivery claims should wait for the formal grant letters and individual project announcements.

Next steps

Recipients will need to complete the formal grant-award process before the maximum values become final. Project owners and suppliers should watch for individual delivery plans, procurement notices and connection requirements as each scheme moves forward.
