Scotland has allocated £1,347,018 to nature recovery projects, including restoration after the Abernethy wildfire in the Cairngorms.

The wildfire work receives £150,100. Other projects cover river restoration, habitat improvements, invasive species control and deer management. Delivery is through the Cairngorms National Park Authority and NatureScot.

The package sits within the existing £23 million nature restoration budget for 2026-27, rather than being an additional £23 million announcement.

The Scottish Government published the update on 24th October at 10:45 UK time. The work is intended to strengthen ecological resilience; the release does not establish completed restoration or quantified carbon savings.
