The Scottish Government has added six development-grant recipients to its 2026 Just Transition Fund awards list for the North East and Moray. The entries total £300,000 and cover feasibility, business-case work and community-led transition planning.

Current status

The list was updated on 14th October 2026. All listed awards remain subject to final grant conditions and arrangements with project partners; they are not evidence of completed capital works.

UHI Moray is listed for £80,000 towards a business case for an energy and engineering skills hub. Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce and Aberdeen Science Centre receive a £60,000 listing for an energy visitor-attraction feasibility study, while Bon Accord Heritage SCIO is listed for £50,000 to assess restoration of Aberdeen’s Bon Accord Baths.

The remaining entries are £50,000 for Satarla’s CAIRN-Hydro development work, £40,000 for NESCAN’s community-led guidance catalogue and £20,000 for Equitable Energy Research to explore community ownership and repowering of ageing wind farms. These are listed for 2026–27.

Why this matters

For public-sector and community project teams, the practical lesson is the importance of a development stage before committing to construction. Testing feasibility, developing a business case and establishing community priorities can help clarify what a later delivery programme would need. This is editorial interpretation, not a promise of further funding.

Next steps

Project teams can use the published list to identify relevant work and potential knowledge-sharing contacts. It is an awards update, not a new invitation to apply. Any future procurement or funding opportunity would need its own published terms.
