Scottish heat-network report separates commissioned schemes from forthcoming delivery

Scotland’s latest heat-network progress report offers councils and social landlords a practical snapshot of supported projects, while keeping completed systems separate from future delivery.

Current position

Published on 2nd November 2026, the report says its figures are current to September. Its capital-project table records Aberdeen’s Torry Phase 2 commissioning in March 2026. Renfrewshire’s Gallowhill and Glencairn scheme, serving 180 social housing flats, is listed as due in December 2026. Hazlehead in Aberdeen is due in January 2027. These dates describe the report’s position and are not independent confirmation of later completion.

Why this matters

The projects illustrate different routes to lower-carbon heat, including recovered heat and heat pumps. A separate social-housing table lists East Ayrshire’s 12-flat Meagher Court retrofit with estimated commissioning in January 2027 and a £420,000 grant. That award supports a project still described as forthcoming, rather than a measured operating result.

Next steps

Delivery teams should verify current milestones with project owners before relying on these schedules. The report also covers pre-capital support: feasibility activity is not evidence that construction funding or a working network is secured.
