Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has added six shared e-bikes for community nursing and two fleet chargers at Highbury Hospital through a £20,000 travel grant.

Current position

The award also supported helmets, lights and other cycling equipment. The East Midlands Combined County Authority reported the scheme on 29th October 2026.

Why this matters

The project pairs transport choices with charging and staff equipment around local patient visits. It offers a practical example for NHS fleet and estates teams considering lower-carbon journeys.

Next steps

The Workplace Travel Service is backed by the combined authority and Nottingham’s Workplace Parking Levy. Organisations should check current eligibility and terms. The release does not quantify measured carbon reductions or journey-time savings.
