Actemium says it has been appointed as one of two suppliers to Network Rail’s £13 million road-fleet EV charging framework for Wales and the West of England. Up to 45 operational locations are expected to be included.

Project status: Framework appointment — supplier announcement

What changed

The supplier describes a programme spanning maintenance depots, offices and signalling sites, with charging tailored to vehicles and their time on site. Equipment could range from 22 kW AC to 150 kW DC charging. Its scope includes assessment, design, civil and electrical works, commissioning and training. The £13 million figure describes the framework, rather than a confirmed award of that amount to Actemium alone.

Key project takeaways

  • Match charger selection to duty cycles, dwell times and site power capacity.

  • Plan construction around live operations and include handover and staff training.

Why this matters

Multi-site fleet charging requires a site-by-site assessment of vehicle use, dwell times and electrical capacity. Framework appointments support delivery planning, while individual installations still require design, commissioning and operational handover.
