Green Careers Week puts college retrofit and energy skills in focus

Net Zero News representative editorial image of practical heat-pump and solar training, illustrating college skills for retrofit and clean energy.

Inspire Education Group is using Green Careers Week, from 2nd to 6th November, to highlight training linked to the low-carbon economy. The update was published on 30th October.

Current position

Peterborough College’s existing £13.5 million Centre for Green Technology supports areas including electric vehicle infrastructure and engineering. Stamford College’s construction centre introduces solar panels, air-source heat pumps and sustainable materials, while University Centre Peterborough covers renewable energy and storage.

Why this matters

Public-estate and housing programmes need delivery skills alongside capital investment. The group describes employer engagement on retrofit and workforce needs, including work with CITB, Morgan Sindall Construction and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

Next steps

The group will showcase facilities and partnerships during the week. This is an update on existing provision, rather than a new capital award or facility opening.
