Colchester solar partnership offers £600 installation discount

Colchester City Council has partnered with MakeMyHouseGreen to help residents assess solar panels, battery storage and electric vehicle charging.

The arrangement provides online assessment tools, advice and a £600 discount on eligible installations. Businesses and community buildings in Colchester can also use the discount.

The calculator offers an initial estimate based on a property and its energy use. Residents who choose to proceed can discuss equipment and installation options with the provider.

This is a commercial installation offer supported through a council partnership. It is not an announcement of free solar panels, a council grant or guaranteed bill savings.

The council encourages residents to research their options and obtain competing quotations. For other authorities, the approach offers an example of using advice and negotiated discounts to support local energy improvements, while leaving households to assess suitability and cost.
