Around 74,900 households in England had received 163,800 energy-efficiency measures through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund by the end of August 2026.

Current position

The provisional figures, published by DESNZ on 29th October, cover Waves 1, 2.1 and 2.2. Wave 2.1 accounts for approximately 53,800 households and 120,700 measures; Wave 2.2 accounts for 5,100 households and 11,400 measures.

These are reported installations, rather than a new funding allocation. The figures reflect returns submitted by mid-October and remain subject to revision. A count of measures is not a count of homes because one property can receive several improvements.

Why this matters

For housing providers, the release offers a delivery benchmark. It does not establish measured bill savings or make upgraded homes net zero. EPC improvement should be reported separately from carbon performance.
